Collective residencies / Hackathon: cinema residency for young talents / Olot
ANTÓN REY RUBIO
From Thursday, 1 February 2024 to Wednesday, 14 February 2024
Bio
Since I was sixteen years old, I have known I wanted to make cinema, and every day I am more sure about that. When I set foot on this path, I did so because of the way I felt watching my favorite movies and the level of emotional implication they managed to get from me. I was absorbed. I started my career for that reason, but I continue with the same objective for very different motives. The most important of those is its collective nature. Traditionally, the history of cinema has been explained as a sequence of great directors, but anyone who knows it just a tiny bit can understand that it is a history of incredible teams. Something so simple can be the most important part to keep in mind. The energy of a whole crew working for weeks non-stop, all with one goal: to make a project, to create, is one of the most powerful feelings I have ever felt. When I am part of a film crew, I feel full of purpose; and that is why I want to keep doing it. That is why I have applied for this residence.
Project
I will participate in a collective short film. My task is going to be around the photography department, and it will consist of the following steps: have a dialogue with the DOP and the rest of the team to decide what the film should look like, then try to achieve that as best as we can with the tools at our disposal and my knowledge of how to use them!
