Bio

Mònica Barrio starts her career in 2010 when she gets graduated of acting from Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. In 2011, she moves to London for a year to complete her studies on Shakespeare and physical theater. There, she meets Andrzej and Teresa Welminski, two members of the old Cricot2 company founded by Tadeuzj Kantor. She quickly becomes part of the Third Arrangement as a performer. At that particular moment, she develops a profound curiosity towards the creation process and begins to experience a strong desire to develop her own projects. During the following years, she experimented with theater techniques and devices, and worked with very different kinds of ensembles. Her last job as an actress is Manes by La Fura dels Baus. In 2016, she becomes really interested in feminism, which fuels her desire to produce her own shows. As a matter of course, she co-creates X la Sèrie, her first TV-related production. She now resides in Maresme, where she balances her work as a teacher with the development of Trinitat and long and peaceful reading evenings.

Project

During my time on Faber Llul, I will be working on Trinitat, a TV show based on the unique events that occurred on Trinitat Vella prison in Barcelona in the 1970s. I will be developing the character profiles, as well as working on the structure and mapping of the storyline, in order to have the whole bible and put the project on track before the end of the year.
