Bio
I am a Norwegian artist currently studying Fine Art at the HDK-Valand academy of Art and Design in Gothenburg, Sweden. I have a Bachelor in Art and Dissemination from Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) in Oslo, Norway. I also have a degree as a Subject Teacher in Art and Design from OsloMet. Throughout my artwork, I question complicated relationships, hierarchies, cultural differences, norms and values. I mostly work with painting (acrylics and oil), drawing, and sculpture in steel. I have had solo exhibitions in Oslo, Baerum (Norway) and Stockholm, and I have participated in group exhibitions in Baerum, Athens and Gothenburg.
Project
On average, we will spend one third of our life at work. The work we do therefore highly affects our relationships, habits and everyday life. Do we work to live or do we live to work?
The last couple of months I have been working on a painting and text project inspired by my personal working experience. Since the age of fifteen I have had full-time and part-time jobs, mostly in the service business. My project for this residency is to make a large drawing inspired by working situations and experiences - my own and others. During my residency I hope to meet people who are willing to share stories from their working life: Good memories, bad memories, challenges and opportunities. I intend to transfer this to drawings on a large piece of paper. In addition to the large drawing, I will make a catalog with both text and drawings, which will be completed after my residency.
