Project
The general purpose of my project is translation from the Polish language into Ukrainian, as well as scientific study of Sławomir Mrożek's plays, whose plays have a long and successful history of translations and theatrical productions in Spain. I see one of the main goals of my project as researching the literatures of the Catalan countries, which are not well known in my country, such as the literature of Catalonia, or completely unknown, such as the literature of Andorra. My translation with a preface will be published in December 2023 within the “Theatrical Collection” at the Anetta Antonenko Publishing House, where I manage the "Theatrical Collection" series, as well as other projects, as well as their wide promotion in theaters in Ukraine. 4 plays by Catalan authors that I will select will be published in this publishing house as well The long-term result should be further publications by authors from Catalonia and Andorra.
I consider it my great luck that I got into the international residency. After all, the situation in the culture of Ukraine is not catastrophic, we are actively working and reflecting on the situation in Ukraine and in the world, and we are preparing for the activities and projects that we will start after the our victory, when we return to normal life. I am very pleased that I have so many new colleagues and friends, like-minded people, with many of whom I plan to continue not only friendly, but working relations. I brought home a package of proposals for Ukrainian publishers and theaters, contacts with authors, ideas and plans, which will begin to be implemented verbatim in a few weeks. It was the first time I worked in such comfortable conditions, when I didn't have to take care of my daily life, because the organizers provided us with breakfast and dinner, as well as an apartment where we could hide products and cook food. Therefore, I could devote all my time to my project, and in between I could immerse myself in the magical Olot, visit its museums and nature reserves. I was also able to visit the activities of my colleagues and support them. The excursion to volcanoes and the forest that our dear Pepa organized for us was an unforgettable experience for me, and I was also very touched by the gifts, firstly, our joint photo session, and secondly, a travel bottle with the Faberlull logo, which, I am sure, we will overcome together with me for more than one thousand kilometers.
I was very sorry to leave so quickly and say goodbye, and I would, of course, have preferred to stay longer and realize more of my plans. I brought with me incredible impressions of the organization and conditions in which we were able to work on our projects, of the hospitality and kindness of our hosts, and above all of such an authentic place of Catalonia, which I have the honor and great pleasure to open for Ukraine, as I opened my at the time, the literature of Cyprus and Slovenia was still unknown in our country, and I also tried to promote the literature of Lithuania, which is little known in our country. Also, in communication with translators Andrii Antonovskiy and Catalina Girona, I was very interested to learn about Barcelona Polonia, because Poland is my "working" country and my "parallel" culture, and I also want to learn more and write about it.
