PAULA COMAS I GOMEZ
Film director, writer and communication expert
Girona

Bio

In 2018 she codirects and cowrites "El vent és això" –which is premiered internationally at the Tallinn Black Nights Festival–, a full-length fiction film which arises from an initiative at the Santiago Sobrequès High School, under the guidance of Pere Vilà –the other codirector– which reflects on eating disorders and features Laia Manzares, Àlex Brendemühl and Anna Alarcón in its cast. The film was premiered both at the Temporada Alta Festival and at the D’A Film Festival in Barcelona. She is currently in the post-production stage of "Connexions" (selected by Faberllull for the Cinema Lliure Connecta II Residency), a documentary short film which follows several female athletes in their daily lives. She has recently received a scholarship from the Support Programme for Audiovisual and Cinema Projects of the Girona Film Office to carry out "Resilients" (selected by Faberllull in its individual residency programme in Olot), her solo opera prima. Moreover, Comas has worked as a screenwriter, script and assistant director for Pere Vilà in his fiction full-length film "Gaia". In September 2022 Comas obtained her degree in Audiovisual Communication at the University of Girona.

Project

During my stay in Faberllull, I will develop the feature film "Resilients". The story follows Alèxia (16), a teenager with a promising future within elite sport where she is pressed by her surroundings to abandon her dream. I'm sure with this experience, the project will grow, the result of all connections and synergies created by other residents.
