DARIA MIYE
From Monday, 14 November 2022 to Thursday, 24 November 2022
Bio
Graduated from Moscow State University, she worked with the Russian-language media as a columnist, an editor and an illustrator for 23 years. Her thematic focus passed from gender issues through Italian economics to reportages about the outlandish life and values for GEO Magazine. After having settled in Paris in 2010, she converted her cultural shock into two novels – How to live with a Frenchman (2014) and Making kids with a Frenchman (2018). From 2013 to 2022, she signed her illustrated monthly editorial about Parisian life in one of the most printed onboard magazines. She dialogizes weekly with the readers’ community through her blog turned into a discussion club. She also works as a mentor of creative editing. The main theme of her prose is a gap between the surrounding moral-in-force and the completely accepted selfness.
Project
In the residence, I will continue to work out my current novel - The Zeroth HB - about the Soviet handicapped girl who becomes a world-wide respected specialist in the emotional intelligence education of robots. I am also going to do some field research for the 3rd part of my Frenchman’s series whose action starts precisely in the writers’ residence. Finally, the drawing practice always helps me to gather ideas – I will try to keep the rhythm of creating at least one illustration per day.
