Bio

After more than 20 years as a journalist, more than a decade ago he decided to present the plays that he had never dared to show. Since then, Gallego's theatrical 'occupation' has been continuous and growing, combining it with his work in the media. In this period, he has premiered, as an author, a dozen long works and multiple short pieces, and received twice the prize for the best dramaturgy awarded by public theatres and several awards for his short works. He has been resident author of Teatre Principal (Palma) and he has realized other artistic residences, always in his country. As a playwright, his interest has always been focused on research into the issues that mark our time; always from the perspective of those collectives that make up the most vulnerable part of society and, therefore, suffer the demands and distortions of what is often called 'system' (economic, but also values). He has written pieces like 'Kelly', dedicated to the claims of the chambermaids in hotels around the world; 'Llop' and 'Dissidents', With political repression and patriarchal violence at the heart of the story; 'La Malcontenta' and 'Chocolate' - project in research and artistic writing phase -, with marginality as the main argument, or 'Finlandia', which is a look at the eternal crisis of refugees.

Project

During my stay at Faber I hope to work as a playwright in the project "Polluting Drama Workshop", a joint playwriting residency with three other authors born from the alliance between the Teatre Principal de Palma, the theatre Inestable of Valencia, the Tantarantana Teatre in Barcelona and La Chartreuse-Centre national des écritures du spectacle in Avignon. The project revolves around the Mediterranean and the aim is to write short theatrical pieces that interact with each other.
