Bio

Ursula Bachhausen (Solingen, 1965) studied Romance studies (French, Spanish and Catalan languages and literatures) and English studies at the universities of Cologne, Perpignan and Barcelona. Beyond that, she holds a second master's degree in Audiovisual Translation of the University of Cádiz.
She translates fiction, children's and youth literature as well as theatre and film texts from Catalan, Spanish, French and English into German.
She is the German translator of, among others, Marta Orriols, Tina Vallès, Blanca Busquets, Rafel Nadal and David Cirici as well as the playwrights Helena Tornero, Josep Maria Miró i Coromina, Pau Miró and Jordi Casanovas.
Furthermore, she works as an audiovisual translator for dubbing and as a subtitler, e.g. of the film "Alcarràs" by Carla Simón, the winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival - Berlinale - 2022.
Ursula Bachhausen lives near by Cologne.

Project

Durant la meva estada a Faber Llull, Olot, voldria presentar uns fragments de la novel·la "El senyor Palomar a Barcelona" de la Tina Vallès. M'agradaria aprofitar l'oportunitat de discutir amb els/les altres participants els reptes que posa un text que juga amb l'intertextualitat com ho fa aquesta novel·la que desperta memòries del "Palomar" d'Italo Calvino i és, tanmateix, un text molt propi i actual. I, és clar, sempre és interessant discutir amb col·legues els reptes generals de la traducció entre el català i l'alemany.
