From Friday, 4 November 2022 to Sunday, 6 November 2022

LAIA SÁNCHEZ CASALS
Associate professor at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the UAB and head of the Citilab Collaboratory
Cornellà de Llobregat

Bio

She has been part of Citilab since 2008 and am currently the director of its Collaboratory, through which she is involved in networks and communities to activate the citizen innovation ecosystem on complex challenges. Laia is also part of the team that works to raise the quality of high school research projects and helps teachers to improve student support during the research process. On the other hand, I have been a member of the driving group of the Colaboratorio IC to promote citizen innovation. Previously, she was responsible for Citilab's European projects (Vision Project, iCity, Pelars, JamToday, Mind the Gap, and Future DiverCities), in which I designed and implemented experiences and methods specific to citizen labs, living labs, and co-creation processes. She have been an associate professor at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) since 2007.

Project

I am going to explore the potential alliances and synergies with the team involved in this Faber residency. I am willing to visit and to know more about the Espai Cràter. I would like to work on Colaboratorio IC’s education work group activation and test our online community space (Decidim) https://comunidad.colaboratorioic.org/

The aim of this team is to Incorporate Civic Innovation into the educational system, from primary school all the way up to the university level and beyond, in order to develop transferable, universal skills and to train new change agents. Create educational programs and school subjects that combine learning and practice by carrying out research and projects connected to the challenges faced by specific communities.
