Bio

Raül Garrigasait studied music and ancient languages, writes essays and fiction, and translates from Greek and German into Catalan. In 2017 he published his novel Els estranys, the winner of numerous literary prizes. He has published essays on issues such as cosmopolitanism, Catalan cultural history and the European literary tradition, the most recent being Els fundadors, País barroc, and La ira, all of them published in 2020. He has translated Plato, Goethe, Rilke, Papadiamandis, Joseph Roth and Peter Sloterdijk, among other authors, and presently heads La Casa dels Clàssics (House of the Classics), a project that promotes creation, thought and the dissemination of universal classics in the Catalan language.

Project

A la Residència Faber tinc previst treballar en la traducció de poemes i proses del poeta alemany Friedrich Hölderlin. La meva idea és centrar-me en els seus grans himnes de maduresa, poemes de grans dimensions no rimats que porten el llenguatge al límit, i també en algunes proses estètico-filosòfiques que són molt útils per comprendre el seu projecte poètic.
