Bio

Birgit Kirberg studied translation science and translates from Spanish, Catalan and French into German. She translates films, theatre, poetry and novels, such as Emilia Pardo Bazán, Doña Milagros (2021), Natur Poesie - Anthology of Young Mexican Poetry (2020) or the play „Tocar Mare“ by Marta Barceló (2022). She is currently working on the translation of Marina Ginestà’s novel „En vindran d’altres“, which describes her experiences as a member of the Spanish anarchist movement before the Civil War, and on the translation of Lucía Sánchez Saornil’s poems and essays. Birgit Kirberg lives and works in Berlin and Torroella de Montgrí (Catalonia).

Project

For the stage at the FABER-project I have planned to translate Marta Barceló’s new theatre play „Zona inundable“, dealing with the inundations at San Llorenç in 2018.
