Bio
Michael Ebmeyer (Bonn, 1973) grew up in Bielefeld, studied comparative literature in Tübingen y Barcelona and worked as an assistant professor at Tübingen university for two years, before moving to Berlin in 2001 to continue as a freelance writer and translator.
He has four novels published, as well as a number of other books, some of his own, some as co-author. He translates from Catalan, Spanish and Englisch, being the german »voice« of catalan writers like Najat El Hachmi and Jordi Puntí, but also of latin american and spanish poets like Humberto Quino Márquez (Bolivia) and Juan Carlos Friebe (Granada).
Project
During my stay at Faber I will work on the German translation of Najat El Hachmi’s feminist essay »Sempre han parlat per nosaltres«. Depending on how fast I proceed with this task in the weeks before, it might be revision work, basically, and taking the opportunity to discuss with the other participants the challenges of translating this important contribution to an ongoing and urgent debate.
