Bio
Laura Garcia Alonso, graduated at ESCAC, started working as an assistant director in films and commercials. Her first short film, “Alex” was selected at San Sebastian International Film Festival and nominated at the Gaudí Awards (Catalan Cinema Academy). Her second short film, “Tormenta de verano” (Summer Storm), starring Àlex Monner and Lola Dueñas, reflects on mental illness in a family environment. Produced by Distinto Films and Agosto, its festival distribution is about to begin. Currently, she is developing her first feature as a film director while also working as an advertising director and as a professor at ESCAC.
Project
During the Faberllull Residency I will work on Corredora, my first feature film as director, together with Pol Cortecans, cowriter of the film. The workshop will give us the space, time and tools to continue deepening the structure and tackle a first draft soon. Mentors’ comments at this point are foundational to what the story will be and we are very open to suggestions to improve it and bring it closer to the audience.
For me Faberllull has been an enriching experience. Being able to dedicate myself exclusively to my project is a privilege. The comments of the tutors and fellow students have been very useful to continue deepening the script. In addition, the environment is beautiful and the organizers are close and attentive. I am very grateful, I feel that the project is moving forward.
