Catherine Acevedo was born in 1988 in El Tigre, Colombia, and has been living in Spain for over a decade. She studied a dual degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communications at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. With a scholarship for excellence, she was able to complete her master’s degree on Fictional Cinema at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona and she is currently enrolled in a Master of Cinematographic Direction and Staging in Barcelona’s School of Cinema (Escola de cinema de Barcelona).

Catherine has written and directed 3 Millones (2017), a short documentary film about the life of Syrian refugees in Istanbul. Which has been selected in several national film festivals. She has written short films and full-length feature films such as El Tigre (2020) and Barcelona, año cero (2021), as a part of her creative journey. Her stories explore the search for identity, immigration and childhood, framed in a suspense and fantasy genre.

I’ll take part in the Connecta Residency, organized by Cinema Lliure, which takes place in Palma de Mallorca. It’ll be a space for collective creation and learning about cinematographic art, where eight residents will develop a short film proposal, with the teachings of master classes and the advice of different professionals in the industry.
