JEAN-PHILIPPE LABBÉ
From Monday, 27 February 2017 to Friday, 10 March 2017
Bio
Jean-Philippe Labbé (1986) is a Canadian mathematician. He works in Berlin (Germany) since October 2016 at the Institute of Mathematics (Discrete Geometry) of the Freie Universität. His research concerns discrete geometry, and algebraic and enumerative combinatorics. One of his major topic of study is polytope theory: studying geometrical and combinatorial properties of polytopes, such as their number of faces, their volumes, their constructions, etc. He started using python in 2004 and became a SageMath user in 2008. Since 2010, he has contributed to SageMath mainly around the geometry component.
Project
During my stay at Faber, I will work with my colleagues on building bridges between softwares doing computations related to polytopes. Many simple and useful algorithms should be added to the library of Sagemath and Sagemath should be able to use other libraries such as the one of Polymake. My time in Olot will give me a great opportunity to deepen my knowledge in software development and cutting-edge algorithms.
