MARCELO FORETS
From Sunday, 5 March 2017 to Saturday, 11 March 2017
Bio
Marcelo Forets is a researcher working on scientific computing and mathematical methods for engineering sciences. He was born in Uruguay (Montevideo, 1988), graduated in Physics from Universidad de la República, and then in Electrical Engineering. He moved to France for a PhD in Mathematics and Informatics (University Joseph Fourier, 2013-2015), writing a thesis on quantum computational models and mathematical physics of the quantum random walk. He is currently a second year post-doc researcher at VERIMAG laboratory of Université Grenoble Alpes, and his research interests lie in the frontier of applied mathematics (optimization, numerical analysis), and verification of dynamical systems.
Project
During my stay at Faber I would like to contribute to the Sage mathematical software project. Free software projects such as Sage, rather than a “solo” activity, evolve by virtue of the sum of efforts of individuals (developers, in the jargon). This represents a great opportunity to link with experienced Sage developers and to develop a sense of community. I will focus on improving the geometry and mathematical optimization libraries, that I can later apply to my research or for teaching, and also to write documentation.
