LAIA SERÓ
Journalist
Catalonia

Bio

From journalism to ethnography, Laia Seró approaches social topics from the point of view of documental literature. She studied Journalism at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and she is currently doing a master’s degree in Anthropology and Ethnography at Universitat de Barcelona (UB). She has explored in-depth issues as TIL and the defence of Catalan in the Balearic Islands and the story of Metaloplastika’s aliens handball team from Sabac. She published at Metròpolis and Sàpiens magazines, and Ara newspaper. Nowadays, she is a member of the journalists collective SomAtents, editor at RacóCatalà.cat and scriptwriter for «Lletrasonats» programme in Catalunya Radio. Last year, in the literature festival Literal, she interviewed the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature Svetlana Alexievich.

Project

At Faber, I have in mind working on a project to recover the figure of Albert Camus in La Barceloneta district of Barcelona that we are launching with SomAtents and other groups. And, at a personal level, I would like to take advantage of the stay to write my final master thesis about the relation between ethnographic method and narrative journalism.
