Bio

Ricard Mas’ work has focused on the life and work of Salvador Dalí, the historical avant-garde, the relationship between art and advertising, and the history of the video game. He has founded and directs the electronic portal Mirador de les Arts (www.miradorarts.com). He has published, among other books, Qui no anuncia no ven! Els artistes catalans i la publicitat 1888-1929 (Barcelona: Parsifal, 2002), Univers Dalí: 30 recorreguts per la vida i l’obra de Salvador Dalí (Barcelona: Lunwerg, 2003), La Pintura española : nuevas tendencias (Barcelona: Arte Carroggio, 2007), i Dalí i Barcelona (2017).

Collaboration project between Faber and the Museu de la Garrotxa in Olot. Exhibition “Cigarrillos París i la publicitat moderna”

The exhibition, curated by Ricard Mas and co-produced by the Garrotxa Museum and the Vila Casas Foundation, shows us what advertising was like at the beginning of the 20th century through its particular iconography. From the collection of modernist posters of the tobacco brand “Cigarrillos París”, together with photographs, printed matter and design products, we can see how advertising, from its beginnings, has played with the figure of women, children, the differences in social classes or concepts such as progress or the myth of Paris, the city of light.
