Project
During my stay at Faber, I will work on two genre-bending, hybrid essays – an exciting literary genre I have been working on in the last year with the aim of finding new ways to connect my academic writing (academic essays and books in English) with my creative writing (fiction and literary essays in Galician and English). Drawing upon my current research, I will explore the scarcely documented presence of women in the early years of phonography (1878-1914). Although I expect my time at Faber to be one of experimentation and discovery, rather than working on a commission or a piece under contract, I hope that the pieces I work on can be integrated in some form in Porco, a book of short stories and hybrid essays in Galician I am currently working on (on and off!).
