Bio
Bodil Bøjer is an Industrial PhD candidate, based in the Design Agency Rune Fjord Studio and enrolled at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Her research examines the relationship between learning space design and pedagogical practices in primary and secondary schools by using a Research through Design approach in several cases and design experiments. The aim is to create new knowledge about participatory building design and the potential use of design as a tool to support learning. Bodil holds a MA in Art History and Aesthetics and Culture and has 10 years of practical experience working with spatial design.
Project
The project we (Mie Guldbæk Brøns, Rune Fjord and I) will be working on is an educational project with focus on the linkage between design and pedagogy. The misconception that new spaces change pedagogical practice simply because of their spatial design is in the way of pedagogical development as part of refurbishments and/or expansions in educational buildings. Through developing and testing various types of activation of innovative learning environments in accordance with 21st Century skills, we want to help teachers work actively with the design of the physical space and designers to create spatial design based on pedagogy and the actual needs of the users.
