Coordinator Educational Area of Citilab
Cornellà (Barcelona)

José García studied Telecommunications Engineering at the UPC. He started in the programming world preparing multimedia applications for CD and DVD. In 2007 he started at Citilab, where he participates in the beginnings of the application of block visual programming, like Scratch, in the educational world. In 2010 he participated in the creation of S4A (Scratch for Arduino) within the Edutec project. In 2013 he is involved in the organization of the Scratch Conference. He also collaborates with european projects like  Mind the Gap, Jam Today and Pelars.

He currently coordinates the education area at Citilab and the Edulab project, which promotes the teaching of programming and robotics as a transversal language to understand and relate to technology and to develop critical thinking and creativity  in schools.

My stay at Faber will give me the opportunity to meet microBlocks developers and other professionals allowing me to continue working in the design of activities.

Taking advantage of the Faber meeting, I will take the opportunity to develop and test new activities for the new model of Citilab’s robot. This robot is based on ED1 board, is programmed with microBlocks, a new visual coding language and it is created using 3d printing technologies.

I hope this different tests of use with Faber community will allow us to improve the innovation in teaching and learning processes.
