Bio
Graduated with her PhD in Philosophy, Art & Critical Thought from The European Graduate School. Her doctoral research explores the close relationship between persecution and ethics in the works of Emmanuel Levinas and Sigmund Freud in order to develop an ethics of alterity. Her general research interests include feminist philosophies, media studies, phenomenology, aesthetics, psychoanalysis, and the role language plays in identity formation. Recent publications include her work as a contributing editor to the special issue of Free Associations: Psychoanalysis and Culture, Media, Groups, Politics, which includes her article on relational ethics and political resistance as represented in the Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale. Giovanini teaches philosophy in Los Angeles.
Project
I will work on a critical response to Dr. Irina Poleschuk’s essay,”Temporality of female embodiment in chronic pain: alienation, displacement, and ethical challenges” Both essays will be included in the upcoming collection published by Springer, “Storyinterventions against the Gender Gap from a Global Perspective”.
