Bio
James Hawkey was born in Cardiff (Wales) and has lived in England, France, Catalonia and Andorra. He works as Associate Professor in Linguistics and Catalan Studies at the University of Bristol, and his research is focused on the sociolinguistics of minoritised languages. His research has appeared in a broad range of academic journals, and his latest monograph is entitled "Language Attitudes and Minority Rights: The Case of Catalan in France" and was published with Palgrave Macmillan. He is currently working on several research projects, examining language policy in Andorra and language variation among speakers of Esperanto around the world.
