Sculptor
Lilian Hasler

Bio

Lilian Hasler is an artist who lives and works between Zurich and Eschen. She trained as a sculptor at the School of Applied Arts in Bern (1976–1980) and, since 1986, has been working in her studios at the Zurich Sculptors’ Working Community in Schlieren. She later expanded her education with a MAS in Cultural Studies at the Zurich University of the Arts (2004–2006) and a CAS in Applied History at the University of Zurich (2014–2016).

Between 2007 and 2012 she lived and worked in Bangalore and Pune (India), an experience that deeply shaped her trajectory. From 2017 to 2024 she served as president of the artists’ association Visarte Liechtenstein and, since 2014, she has been a lecturer at the Liechtenstein Art School.

Her work, centred on the exploration of otherness and of what is strange or unknown, reflects her interest in the dialogue between East and West and her commitment to a more equal society. She works with different languages, including sculpture, painting, installation and artists’ books.

Project

At Faber Andorra, she will explore the social and cartographic topography of the country, where she plans to develop a new installation project with the provisional title Topography of the State of Mind. The starting point will be an investigation of the social and alpine topography of Andorra understood as a sculpturally structured space.

Questions of scale, densification and spatial tension will be raised: how do the extreme conditions of the landscape influence the perception of the body, material and built structure? What forms of sculpture arise from direct engagement with height, confinement, stratification and permeability?
