Bio

Ernesto Barraza is a playwright, director and performing arts researcher. He has published articles on Peruvian theatre in magazines and specialised publications and given workshops and conferences in Latin America and Europe. He holds a PhD in theatre studies from the UAB and was a founding member of the International Network of Latin American and European Theatre Researchers.

His most recent works as a creator include the auto-fictions Els herois de la meva pàtria (2024) and Trangeneracional (2022). Between 2010 and 2023, he was in charge of artistic direction at BreakTeatro, of which he was a co-founder. In 2021 he published the Trilogia de la pandèmia compilation of short dramatic texts. He has written, directed and produced more than 15 theatrical works, a number of which have won awards at the Peruvian Drama Festival at the La Plaza Theatre (2013) and the British Peruvian Cultural Centre Drama Competition (2008).
