Bio

Irene Salza (Italy) is an artist and researcher. She has a degree in social and community theatre from the University of Turin and took a PhD in theatre studies from the UAB with a thesis on the use of participatory artistic installations in contemporary theatre. She is one of the founding members of RIITLE.

Irene Salza is mainly dedicated to participatory theatre as a project author, trainer, director and actor. She is involved in community playwriting, show directing and the delivery of workshops in Italy and abroad. She partners with universities, associations and municipalities. She has directed theatre projects in Palestine, Albania, Bosnia and Malta. Since 2012 she has been a creator, artist and actor in the Teatro di Giornata project of the Stranaidea Cooperative and is among the founding members of Sbalzi-Cultura in Rilievo, the cultural sector of Stranaidea, whose objective is to promote community development through art, theatre and culture.
