Bio

Isa Luengo is a screenwriters and directors. She co-directed the short film Perpetua felicidad (2022) togheter with Sofia Esteve, which was a candidate for the Goya Awards; and, along with Marina Freixa, Els buits (2024), which recently won the Biznaga for Best Documentary Short Film at the Málaga Festival and the Audience Award at D’A Film Festival.

Previously, Isa Luengo co-directed the short film The Interior City (2017) with Jorge Moneo and Andrea Ballesteros, which premièred at IDFA. In 2022, she received the Netflix-ESCAC Inclusive Creativity Fund Scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in Screenwriting at ESCAC, where she later joined as a lecturer.

Luengo and Esteve have also worked in the casting department for films like Los tortuga by Belén Funes and are the creators of the project @la_calumnia, focusing on LGBTQI+ genealogies in cinema.

Project

Isa Luengo is one of the candidates selected to take part in the Catalan Film Academy's first script consultancy workshop, a pioneering initiative aimed at audiovisual industry professionals keen to direct part of their career towards creative project support. Participants will work directly on the selected projects of the Residency, engaging in custom tutorials and collective dynamics that will allow them to acquire tools to guide the development of fictional feature and documentary films. The main objective is to strengthen and professionalise script consulting in Catalonia, with special attention to projects in the original Catalan version, thus contributing to improving the quality of Catalan feature films in the development phase and make them more robust.
