Bio
Born in Barcelona in 1989, Fabià studied composition with Gabriel Brnčić, Mauricio Sotelo, Marco Stroppa and Daniel Ott. He has written four chamber operas which premiered at venues such as the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, the Munich Biennial and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, as well as orchestral works performed by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the RTVE television network, SWR Stuttgart and the Tokyo Philharmonic. Fabià has composed chamber music for festivals such as Aldeburgh and the Cologne Biennial.
Awarded the Queen Sofia Prize for Musical Composition in 2024, he also received the 2nd Toru Takemitsu Prize (2015) and the Wardwell Fellowship (2016). In 2021 he was artist in residence at the Academy of Arts in Berlin and has been collaborating with Los Encuentros de Pamplona since 2022. His work explores the archetype of nature and the boundary between the human and the natural, contrasting with an operatic line influenced by science fiction and technology
