Bio
Carlos Marques-Marcet is a writer, director and editor from Barcelona. He went to Los Angeles with a scholarship to pursue a master in film direction at UCLA. He began his career as an editor, until he directed 10,000 km, which premiered at the SXSW Festival and won the Special Jury Prize, was nominated for the EFA Discovery Awards and led him to take home the Goya Award for Best New Director. He then directed Anchor & Hope (SXSW, Rotterdam, BFI London) and The Days to Come, which premiered at the Tiger Competition in Rotterdam. His latest film, They Will Be Dust, won the Platform Competition at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, as well as several awards at other festivals. In addition to his film career, Carlos has directed several television series for Spanish platforms such as HBO, Movistar+ and A3Media.
Project
Carlos Marqués-Marcet is one of the mentors for the 2025-2026 screenwriting residency. He will offer master classes and individual tutorials to resident screenwriters.
