Bio
Mariona Martínez Pijoan (Barcelona, 2001) is a director and screenwriter. As a teenager, she took part in audiovisual projects with her friends. She graduated from ESCAC and her studies culminated with Lluna de sal (Salt Moon), a socially themed short film rooted in her childhood and family. The short premièred at the 69th edition of SEMINCI in 2024, where it won the Espiga de Plata for Best International Short Film.
She recently completed a master's degree in directing at ESCAC and is currently in post-production on her latest short film.
Project
During her stay at Faberllull, she will write the script for the feature film On viuen les libèl·lules (Where the Dragonflies Live), together with Núria Bestit.
Lluna, a 17-year-old girl with an intellectual disability who has always lived under the protection of her 47-year-old mother, Mar, has just finished school. On the cusp of turning 18 and dreaming of becoming an actress, she auditions for a play. But the excitement of early summer is shattered when she has to leave for the countryside to care for her 78-year-old grandmother, Dolo, whose dementia has worsened. There she reconnects with her aunts, uncles and cousins.
