CELIA GIRALDO
From Monday, 13 October 2025 to Friday, 17 October 2025
Bio
Celia Giraldo (Cornellà de Llobregat, 1995) is a director and screenwriter who graduated in Directing from ESCAC. In 2024 she released her début film, A Commonplace (Un lugar común), which won the Gaudí Award for Best New Director. The film shares themes with her graduation short, Et busco a tots (Looking for All of You): the loss of identity and the fear of loneliness, approached through the lens of tragicomedy.
These concerns remain present in her upcoming project, La niña prodigio (The Girl Prodigy), in which she aims to explore a more dreamlike language, seeking a balance between the emotional and the absurd. Her ongoing collaborations with artists such as Rigoberta Bandini have allowed her to direct music videos with free and surrealistic visual proposals that she aspires to apply to fiction. She has explored the documentary format with Va dando el tiempo (Time is Passing, 2020), a short film about her last conversation with her grandfather. In television, she was part of the series Això no és Suècia (This is not Sweden, winner of the Ondas Award for Best Comedy Series), co-directing three episodes with Sara Fantova.
Project
During her stay at Faberllull, she will write the script for the feature film La niña prodigio.
The chance (and supernatural) encounter between a girl who has stopped speaking, her mother, who is obsessed with respectful parenting, and a writer mourning the loss of her friend, will forge a bond between them that will lead them to question how far they are willing to go to live up to their own ambitious expectations.
