Bio
Alex Sardà (Barcelona), director, screenwriter and photographer, won the Gaudí Award for best short film for El Príncep (The Prince, 2024). It premièred at SEMINCI 2024, where it won the award for Best National Short Film. Along with his previous short films, Fuga (Escape, 2021) and Gang (2020), the three short films form a trilogy that explores contemporary masculinities and their conflicts. He made his feature-length début with the documentary Hafreiat (2022), which premièred at Sheffield DocFest 2022 and won the Best National Documentary at SEMINCI 2022, received a special mention from the jury at Miradasdoc 2023 and earned the International Audience Award at Amman Film Fest 2023. A project that, like Els Salvatges (The Savages), explores family and colonial relationships.
Project
During his stay at Faberllull, he will co-write the script for the feature film Els Salvatges with Francisco Kosterlitz.
Set between Barcelona and Equatorial Guinea, the story follows a couple trying to escape their respective family legacies, but everything begins to go wrong when Magí's ambition drives him to replicate colonial behaviours and Àngela begins to suffer from a mysterious illness. The shadow of a mysterious curse linked to Magí's family past forces them to question the very foundations of everything they have built within the last Spanish colony.
