JÚLIA QUINTANA
Illustrator and secondary school teacher
Martorelles

Bio

Júlia Quintana is from Martorelles, a small town in Vallès surrounded by nature. Since childhood, she has loved drawing and immersing herself in stories and books, especially their illustrations.

She began in the field of illustration in 2014 with renowned illustrator Cristina Losantos, with whom she now enjoys a beautiful friendship. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, where she specialised in engraving. She also holds a master's degree in Teacher Training and a postgraduate degree in Illustration from the Llotja School of Art and Design.

In 2022, she published the illustrations for her first book and has continued to publish with national publishers ever since. She also collaborates with the magazine El Tatano published by the Cavall Fort publishing house.

She is inspired by everyday life and her immediate surroundings, along with childhood memories and experiences. She likes to create richly detailed compositions that not only accompany the text but also invite readers to imagine new stories.

Her work currently combines illustration and teaching.

Project

At Faberllull, she will be responsible for illustrating a children's picture book for the Italian publishing house Coccinella, written by Chiara Sorrentino.

The story follows a little hare who wants to celebrate his birthday with all his friends but is unsure of the perfect time to do so. To find the answer, he asks every animal in the forest, but as the day draws to a close, none of their answers satisfy him.
