Bio
Catalina Gayà Morlà. With a PhD in communication and as a Serra Hunter lecturer at the department of Media, Communication and Culture at the UAB and researcher with the 'Xahrazad: Narrative Thought and Action in Culture and Communication' group at the UAB, Catalina Gayà Morlà is currently a professor in the department's master's and bachelor's degrees. Until 2020, she was a consultant at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) in the master's on New Narratives and a View and Method professor in the master's on Literary Journalism at the UAB.
She directed the 'Study on Perceptions Around Rape and Equality Among People Aged 14 to 18' for the Balearic Women's Institute and the 'Rumor of Memory' participatory community project by the Mallorca Maritime Museum. She co-directed the Barcelona Maritime Museum's 'Give Me the Sea' project for onboarding women into the institution's discourses. Catalina Gayà Morlà has more than 20 years' experience as a journalist in different countries. She is the author of, among other works, El mar és el teu mirall (The Sea is Your Mirror) (2017, Llibres del KO) and co-author of Ulisses és nom de dona. Un relat no oficial del mar (Ulysses is a Woman's Name: An Unofficial Account of the Sea) (MMB-Barcelona Provincial Council, 2021).
