Bio
Pere Garau (Selva, 1997) has a degree in Catalan Language and Literature from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and a master's in Catalan Language and Literature: Knowledge and Critical Analysis of Intangible Heritage from the same university. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Philology and Philosophy in the field of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at the UIB, under the supervision of Dr. Nicolau Dols, with the thesis "The Rhythmic Variability of the Catalan Decasyllabic". His main line of research is Catalan metrics, although he has published research on the change of mode (oral-written) in subtitling.
He is a researcher on the Institute of Catalan Studies' Oral Corpus of the Catalan Language (COLC) project. At the UIB he works as a technical officer for the Ramon Llull Chair, a job he combines with lecturing in the degree in Catalan Language and Literature, where he teaches the subject Normative Language II: Units. From 2021 to 2025 he held the position of secretary of the Association of Young Researchers in Catalan Language and Literature (AJILLC) and has been its president since 2025.
