Bio

Carme Martí has a degree in Catalan Philology and is a writer, teacher and member of the company Quatre Gotes.

Preserving memories and praising the little things that make the real story are themes that echo through her work in novels such as Un cel de plom. La vida de Neus Català, now in its 18th edition and adapted for theatre and film, El camí de les aigües and Els núvols.

In non-fiction, she co-authored Cròniques rurals and authored Història d’una cuinera. Memòries de Maria Badia and Un cel ple d’estrelles. Calendari d’Advent.

Project

During her residency, she will work on a novel woven from the small, everyday movements of a couple, telling the story of a morning like any other, an afternoon odyssey to visit a friend and returning home in the evening. The challenge is to condense lives into a highly detailed account of the present and evocation of the past, dealing with topics like ageing, mourning, friendship, loneliness, the pain of loss and, despite it all, the beauty of the world.
