Bio

Gerard Gil has worked as a film director and assistant director.

He finished his degree in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University at the end of 2020. There, he made his forays into directing. He co-directed the short film Greata (nàusea) (Greata (Nausea)) which had very limited resources but was a finalist in the Nest section of the 67th San Sebastian International Festival, and took part in the Un Impulso Colectivo del D'A 2020 awards at Filmin, among other festivals on several continents. The film was selected for ECAM's TheFilmNowProject and screened in national and international festivals for a year. Greata has been a permanent part of the Filmin catalogue since 2022. Gil was also a co-director, as part of his film dissertation, of the short Els peixos no dormen mai (Fish Never Sleep), which premiered in the Noves Visions section of the 2021 Sitges International Festival, in collaboration with the SGAE, and at the 2021 Reteena Festival, and was selected in the Un Impulso Colectivo section of D'A 2022.

During this period, he combined the facet most closely linked to filming with teaching audiovisual studies to children and young adults through Nadir and Digital Films. He has worked on different Catalan Film Academy projects since March 2024.

He is currently doing a master's in Contemporary History and the Present World at the University of Barcelona, with the aim of linking cinema from the historical perspective, and is developing his short film, Madre B (Mother B).
