ALIDÉ SANS
Artist
Val d'Aran

Bio

Beating to the rhythm of an isolated valley (Vall d’Aran), Alidé Sans embodies a natural synergy between two languages: music and Aranese Occitan. Having enjoyed a close relationship with music since childhood, her career took off when she was discovered through the "Esperança" project on gender violence. After her debut album "Eth paradís ei en tu" (Nuba Records, 2015), Sans released her second LP, "Henerècla" (Hètaman, 2018), a captivating fusion of eclectic rhythms and combined influences. In the following years, she ventured into new fields, embracing rock and hip-hop while revisiting traditional music and working with artists from across different backgrounds. This eclectic journey culminated in her latest album, "Arraïtz" (Dmusical, 2024), a party through time and space to the beat of folktronica, produced with the accompaniment of Iago Pico (producer of Tanxugueiras, among others), which has received praise and earned a prized place in festival programming, as well as the 2024 ARC Award for best traditional music tour. A fixture on the Occitan, Catalan and Spanish music scene, Sans has played France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal and the United States, where she performed in Washington and New York. Alidé Sans emerges as a powerful Pyrenean voice, whose authenticity stands out on the musical landscape.

At the same time, she has completed a university degree in Law and is currently the head of management at the Institut d'Estudis Aranesi – Acadèmia Aranesa dera Lengua Occitan. Her involvement in Aranese municipal politics has led her to hold the position of mayor of Bausen since the May 2023 elections.
