Bio

Marta Romero holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her first feature film, Toda una vida (2022, Distinto Films), premièred at the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival and the D’A Film Festival. It won the Best Film Award at the Som Cinema Catalan Audiovisual Festival and Docs València, as well as the Best First Documentary Award at the Golden Kapok Awards (China).

Her documentary short Facunda (Allegra Films) premièred at IDFA and was nominated for the Gaudí Awards.

Project

At Faberllull, she will be writing the script for Pista de ball together with Luz Ruciello. The protagonist is Martina (28), who lives life intensely, balancing her medical treatment with partying and drugs. She is the leader of a music band with her friends, and they are about to go on tour. Her mother, Luisa (62), disapproves of anything that doesn’t prioritise her health. Her latest medical reports force her back into the hospital, where she meets her roommate, Silvi (78). The time they spend together becomes a prelude to Pista de ball, a miniature representation of life.
