Bio
Piotr Grablunas is a lecturer in the Department of Unique Philologies at the Institute of Applied Linguistics, Faculty of Neophilology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He also works as an assistant at the Center for Research and Practice in Cultural Continuity at the Faculty of "Artes Liberales," University of Warsaw. His primary research interest is linguistic diversity, particularly regarding the Lithuanian-speaking minority in Poland, specifically focusing on the Dzukian variety. He explores various topics, including sociolinguistics, language policy, language documentation, linguistic landscapes, and the vitality and revitalization of endangered, contested, and indigenous languages. He has conducted particular investigations into preserving the Dzukian variety used by the Lithuanian community in Poland.
As someone of Dzukian origin, he dedicates part of his research to issues related to this language. In addition to his research, Piotr Grablunas collects and analyzes data, presenting his findings at conferences and meetings in Poland and abroad. He teaches Lithuanian and Latvian at Adam Mickiewicz University and seeks to leverage his teaching experience to develop materials for teaching other languages. He has participated in international research projects focused on small communities, their languages, multilingualism, multiculturalism, and the maintenance or revitalization of minority languages, including COLING and MULTILING-HIST.
