Bio

Manuel Borja-Villel is an art historian trained at the universities of Valencia, Yale and New York. From the early 1990s, he has headed up several art spaces, including Fundació Tàpies and the MACBA in Barcelona, and Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid. Over the course of his career, he has become one of the most world-renowned museum directors, receiving the Bard College Award for Curatorial Excellence in 2023. He is the author of Campos magnéticos. Escritos de arte y política (2020) and, with Marcelo Expósito, Conversaciones con Manuel Borja-Villel (2015).
