CARLOTA GONZÁLEZ GÓMEZ
From Monday, 24 February 2025 to Friday, 28 February 2025

Bio
Carlota González Gómez was born on the outskirts of Murcia, in San José de la Vega. She studied Cinematography in Barcelona at ESCAC (Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia) and later completed a master’s degree in Contemporary Cinema Studies at Pompeu Fabra University. As part of her degree, she specialised in directing and made her first documentary short, El mapa de l’aigua. Through non-fiction cinema, she aims to explore representations of spaces in crisis and the coexistence between natural and human ecosystems.
Project
At Faberllull, she is also working on the script for Luna de agosto, alongside Paula Fuentes. The film is set in the villages of the Sierra Minera (Murcia), which still suffer the environmental, economic and social consequences of one of the greatest ecological disasters in the Mediterranean. The Bay of Portmán is the epicentre of this disaster, an inert place, a broken ecosystem that has endured the onslaught of mining over-exploitation for half a century. Against this backdrop, a group of young friends bids farewell to summer, exploring the possibilities, hopes and fears of an uncertain future. They are also the protagonists of a strange film being shot by outsiders about the village’s situation.
