Bio
Jessica Ratcliff works on the history of science and technology. She specializes in social and material approaches to the history of knowledge, with a focus on Britain and its former empire from the 17th through the 19th centuries. Professor Ratcliff is currently working on a book about science and the East India Company.
Project
She plans to develop the plan for her third book project, which will examine how the India Office shaped the political economy of science in Britain between 1858 and 1947, with a focus on knowledge resource management (libraries and museums).
Olot is a magical place, and my time at the Faberllull felt magical too. With the residency so well organized, I was able to focus, uninterrupted, on my writing for many days. The community that grew among my fellow residents was inspiring; I learned so much from them and I look forward to keeping in touch!
