Project

During this residency I will present with my colleagues a project about the application of platforms to transcribe and describe handwritten archival collections and funds in an automated way. The project has the general objective of promoting dialogue between digital paleography and archives, through the application of artificial intelligence in paleographic reading activities. There are studies at Brazilian National Archives to adopt this kind of software/platform for the recognition of certain writings in Portuguese, allowing the automated transcription of these documents. We will also try to see how these platforms are used in European and, specifically, Spanish archives to compare methodologies. Finally, we will try to exchange ideas and experiences with the other residents.
