Project

As a painter, I am exploring in a practical way the impact of globalisation on the built environment as well as contemporary ways of living, taking into account an ecologically sound choice of materials. During my residency I will be investigating transitory spaces in Andorra. Often, well-known historical sites are altered in character by a large influx of tourists. During my time studying in Barcelona, I created paintings that explore the relationship between place and tourists. Since Andorra is also a centre of attraction for many people, there are points of contact between global and regional culture for me to explore. My painterly approach to the subject goes through the sensual experience of forms and colours. Specifically, I will be drawing and watercolouring on site during my time in Andorra. In the further course of the residency, I will translate selected pictorial motifs into painting on canvas. All the works produced will serve as archive material for my works to be executed in elaborate egg tempera painting on wood in the studio in Germany.
