Project

At Faber residence I will work on my thesis project, which seeks to examine —from a decolonial approach and based on the theories of Historical Justice— the bloody period of the extractive boom of wild rubber in the Putumayo area and tributaries (border area with Colombia) which took place, mainly, at the beginning of the 20th century in the northern jungle of Peru.

From the Andes to the Pyrenees

It was Wednesday morning and I woke up still a bit disoriented. I open the bedroom window. Clear skies, victorious sunshine and on the horizon the green mountains in heat make me think for a few seconds that I woke up somewhere in the Peruvian high jungle. I tilted my head for a few seconds, as when puppies try to decipher a gesture or a sound, and I soon realized the absurdity: I was not in the middle of the Andes, but in the middle of the Pyrenees. But my brief confusion was justified not only by a long and exhausting journey of almost forty hours, but also by the successive occasions on which my arrival at the Faber Andorra residence was frustrated because of the sanitary restrictions imposed by Covid-19. In spite of everything, I was finally here.

Sooner rather than later the exhaustion from the intercontinental trip disappeared, thanks in large part to the comfortable surroundings offered by the residence. Being equipped with everything necessary for a more than comfortable stay, the Faber residence offers the greatest of luxuries: a time for exclusive dedication to the research work or project in mind.

La Massana, one of the parishes that make up this parliamentary co-principality and where the residence is located, also offers spaces for entertainment and cultivation of cultural curiosity, as is the case of the museums or the public library, which honors the multilingualism that is breathed throughout Andorra.

The opportunity to find bibliographic sources in the library, as well as the opportunity to expose my research topic to various people and professionals, have helped to shape my ideas on the topics that summon my academic interest.

Thank you very much for this pleasant and enriching experience in the country of the Pyrenees.
