Project

Dissertation (University of Lausanne, Switzerland) research on the hidden camera in television, as a PHD graduate, from its earliest usage by the Television and cinema pioneers in Europe and the US to its deployment through the 60’s to the 90’s. Also, the role of undercover journalism in the press more generally and the increasing cloud over its use, both in Europe and the U.S. This work tends to illustrate how undercover journalism, from its origins till today, from Nelly Bly in the 19th century to today’s reality shows and intrusive UGC, has been in the same time an issue for ethical and judicial controversy, as much as a decisive tool for investigative journalism, with an impact.

Your stay in Olot

This stay in Olot, inside the Faber Residence, was above all a wonderful experience. I didn’t expect anything, but I received a lot. Discreetly, without big advertisements or publicity, the residence has consolidated itself as an intellectually stimulating place, where the best possible conditions are put at the service of researchers, intellectuals, journalists and writers so that they can make their projects possible. In a natural environment surrounded by extinct volcanoes, covered by vegetation, next to the generous forests of Olot, the residence offers the tranquility necessary for creation. Freed from the obligations of logistics, served by a friendly and discreet staff, the residents are well received, with the sole obligation of being around a magnificent dinner. Attentive and efficient, Francesc i Gavina, the souls of the residence, have known how to create, around our theme Narrative Journalism, a rich and improbable set of free spirits, animated by the only desire to maintain full and passionate intellectual exchanges. Our professional origins, our cultural heritages, our shared dreams, have brought out the lava that we have in fusion in our brain, as if it were from the volcanoes of La Garrotxa. From this eruption temporary friendships are born that are also called to last, the joy that provokes the debate of ideas and the certainty that the instants lived to Faber will mark our existences as a necessary and beneficent suspension of time.
