Bio

Literary translator from English, French, Spanish and Catalan to Hungarian, mother of three adolescents, currently assistent professor of Pannonia University at the department of German Studies and Translation. She teaches translation based on the principle: Practice is Research. She defended her PhD thesis on Memory and History in the Myth of Mequinensa in 2018 at the University of Szeged Hungary. From Catalan she translated works from Jesús Moncada, Pere Calders, Imma Monsó, Joan Francesc Mira, Armand Puig i Tàrrec, Ramon Solsona, Mercé Ibarz, Albert Sánchez Piñol, Ramon Guillem, Maria-Antònia Oliver, Borja Bagunya.

Translation is essentially a work to be done in solitude, but translators are very curious people, and so is she. Krisztina’s world , a part from family and friends, is full of literary characters, scenes, poems, and songs of all sorts conjuring lost times. She considers sharing as an essential element for any kind of learning, experimenting or discovery.

She lives in Veszprém with her family.

Project

I will work together with Dóra Bakucz, Balázs Déri and Gabriella Zombori on the translation of contemporary Catalan texts. The idea is to put together a panorama of Catalonia through its literature, drama, social science essays and poetry. Each of us will dedicate him/herself to 1-2-3 texts, and we publish the result in a brand new literary review PIM that is ready to dedicate a whole supplement to the topic of Catalonia. We hope to meet the authors and get in touch with Catalan reality to be able to get inspiration and fuel to get it going.
