For the fourth consecutive year, Faberllull is hosting a paid creative residency for five Catalan and Balearic illustrators to work on projects proposed by international publishers. The aim of the stay is to promote the publication of Catalan and Balearic authors abroad and, at the same time, encourage international publishers to commission professionals from the region.

This year’s event featured the participation of Aletria (Brazil), Claraboya (Chile), Everafter Books (China), Gerstenberg (Germany) and Natur & Kultur (Sweden). In line with their projects, around 50 candidates responded to the open call to submit proposals. Once the evaluation period had concluded, each publishing house selected an illustrator to begin a professional collaboration that will culminate in a residency at Faberllull.

During these 10 days in November, the five selected individuals will focus on developing the projects of their respective publishers, which will in turn monitor the creative process through virtual meetings. At the end of the residency, and based on the results, the parties will decide whether they wish to formalise their relationship in a publishing contract with the aim of publishing the work.
