Open call for individual residencies

We’re calling all professionals in the arts, sciences and humanities anywhere in the world to submit their applications for a Faberllull Olot residency in 2025.

WHAT WE OFFER

Faberllull Olot is at the Hotel Riu Fluvià in Olot (La Garrotxa, Catalonia), with views of Serra del Corb and Puigsacalm. The residence is in a perfect natural setting for concentrating. We offer residents one to two weeks of quality time to work on their projects and share the experience with the other residents.

Faberllull Olot provides accommodations, breakfast and dinner for all residents. Each resident is responsible for their own lunch and there is a shared kitchen available for them to use. Faberllull Olot doesn’t cover travel or obligatory medical insurance for international residents.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Anyone with a project who needs space and time to work on it.

At Faberllull we welcome writers, translators, screenwriters, playwrights, actors, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, artists, critics, historians, philosophers, sociologists, anthropologists, journalists, scientists, researchers, biologists, ecologists, economists, lawyers and all sorts of professionals and creators (or groups, institutions, companies, associations and organisations) in any discipline from anywhere in the world.

Requirements:

• The residencies must last between one and two weeks in January or November 2025. Candidates must have availability both months to apply. If you are only available one of the two periods, please specify on the application. Faberllull Olot will propose specific dates after selecting the candidates, who must commit to attending the whole time.

• The candidates must propose at least two public activities to carry out during their residency. Faberllull is a service-orientated institution and, therefore, residents must complete at least one activity giving back to the community. This activity can be a conference, panel discussion, talk, workshop, meeting with a local professional or organisation, among others. It is important to describe the activity and who it is for. After the candidates have been selected, the Faberllull team will do everything it can to organise the activities in collaboration with the local community in Olot and Catalonia.

Selection criteria:

• Relevance of the project
• Type of activities proposed: priority to those most attractive to the local community.
• People who have previously done residencies at Faberllull Olot, Faber Andorra and Faberllull Palma can only apply if it has been at least three years since their last residency.
• To make sure all residents can interact, it is essential to speak English comfortably.

Priority will be given to fostering diversity in terms of backgrounds and work areas among the groups of residents.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

The application period is from 26 June to 15 September 2024.

Before 15 November 2024, all applicants will be notified by email whether they have been accepted or not.
